Come explore with us!  Discover the wonders of nature with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.  Our STEAM curriculum will unleash your camper’s imagination as we investigate local woods and streams.

Camp Session One 6/25 – 6/28 Habitats, Adaptations, and Orienteering

Do you like to go on treasure hunts?  If so, learn how to go Geocaching for outdoor treasure using compasses and GPS technology.  Build a primitive shelter, and explore the woods to find out how animals adapt to their environment and then create your own animal and build its habitat.  Visit with our friends from Gray Wolf Sanctuary to learn about wolves and what happened to their PA habitat.

Camp Session Two 7/9 – 7/12 Muck, Yuck, and Slimy Things

Get your feet wet with PA Dept. of Environmental Protection and discover the aquatic creatures in our ponds and streams.  Hike with a herpetologist to look under rocks for amphibians and reptiles. Be a soil scientist and make a worm habitat. Explore the woods for moss and ferns, and make a Kokedama string garden.  Learn about weather from ABC 27’s Dan Tomaso and find out how climate affects nature.

Camp Session Three 7/16 – 7/19 Eco-Art and Junk Box Engineering

Imagine, Improvise, Invent!! All you need to become an engineer is junk. Dig into that recycle box and design a car or carnival game.  Take a walk in the woods and make a Nature installation and manipulate nature to design an outdoor sculpture or forest floor painting. Throw away your paint brushes and make a catapult to paint a picture.  Action art may be messy but learn how to create a masterpiece with motion. Use your imagination and build a fairy garden with sticks and stones and shells and cones.
